My Beloved KINDLE & Book Reviews

My Dear Hubby & his fabulous folks spoiled me rotten by giving me my very own KINDLE 2!!
Since I have weeks to lay low and recover from my surgery they wanted me to help pass the time with the most AWESOME Electronic Book Reader. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!
This fancy gadget is really amazing! It can hold up to 1500 books on it. It is wireless and I can download any book from amazon.com ( there are about 400,000 books to choose from) and within 60 seconds or less, I have the next book to read at my fingertips. I especially love the fact I will never lose my place again while reading because WHEN I do fall asleep reading, the Kindle goes into "sleep mode" too. When I awake, I "wake" my kindle and I can continue reading right where I left off. SWEETNESS!!!

Another cool thing about the Kindle is this screen is like reading real paper pages. The screen doesn't glare, it's easy to read with the sun shining on it. You can read in bed with a book light too. Pretty Fancy! So far I have read one book and I have started my second. yippee!

Did I mention that I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! Thanks Lenny, Mom & Dad! You are the BEST!!!

The Kindle arrived shortly after I got home from the Hospital and it has been my new best friend. I decided to wait to get a pic with my new best friend when I wasn't looking like death. :) Trust me, you are glad you waited to see me and my friend :)

PS...Today marks 3 weeks since surgery and I really do feel good. Everyday is better than the last. I had a Dr. Visit last week for my 2 week post -opp appt. He said I am healing perfectly and it was a huge relief to me and very mentally refreshing. Healing is hard. I am a worrier and hope all my aches and pains are normal...they are :) The Dr. has encouraged me to continue walking everyday. I feel so good to get outside and take deep breaths. I wish I could run, but that will have to wait a little more. He has even given me the 2 thumbs up to get back to the pool and swim laps. I have been doing that and I feel alive and happy. I love to exercise and my body needs it. When I get my blood pumping I feel so much better. I feel motivated and strong.
3 more weeks til I am in the clear to return to 100% Loree! Hurry and get here!!!!!
Oh and I'm happy to report I am officially allowed to vacuum the floors again! YES!!!!
Now onto Book Reviews...
Back in January I sped through this thrilling, nail biter of a book. Adventure and craziness all the way! It is a MUST READ!!!

I couldn't wait to get my hands on the second book in this series. It was equally good and it was read in less than a week. I couldn't get enough. I am dying for the third book to come out this summer. Hurry! you still have time to read both before summer. I'm not gonna describe it at all, just trust me! READ IT!!! :)

Changing gears completely from crazy adventure fiction to a very real and amazing book! I gave my self a few days break before jumping into this non-fiction book about an AMAZING Christian Lady, Corrie Ten Boom, who helped to hide Jews during WW2. Corrie and her family are true followers of Christ and their Love and compassion for all mankind is amazing. This book is one all should read. Your testimony of our Savior's Love for each person wicked or good shines bright on the pages of this book. You will learn about forgiveness and how the Lord blesses us even in our darkest days. It is truly inspiring and a life changing book! I want to love more like Corrie Ten Boom and her family! Please read it! You will be strengthened and will gain a greater understanding about Love.

The Lightning Thief was my first Kindle book! LOVED it! I may be a little behind on this reading boat...now that the movie has been released & all. But I have heard good things about this series and I had to jump aboard. It was an easy, fun read and I can't wait to read more about the Adventures of Percy Jackson. Book # 2 here I come!

Wow! Who knew that reading would be so fun?
I have been obeying my "recovery rules" with no problem.
Read, ReAd, REad, reAd, ReaD!!!

~ Sting Ray Bay ~

Back on Jan 30th, 2009, Our family took one last hurrah to the Zoo with our Zoo Pass. We have loved having a zoo membership this past year. This time we decided to visit Sting Ray Bay. It was Awesome!

We all loved petting the Sting Rays except for Blake.

Did you hear what he was afraid of??? A Shark... a little baby shark in the water is all it takes for Blake to keep his paws out of the water. "I CAN'T" is what we hear from Blake any time he doesn't want to do what ever he is asked. I tell him CAN'T is a naughty word. He doesn't believe me.

On the look out for our underwater flying friends :)

Look at these amazing creatures. They loved to be touched...gently of course :) They are smooth and silky. I could stay here all day long :)

Here little sting ray..... do you see the shark in the bottom left pic where Kaitlyn in standing?

Here is a close up of the gruesome creature that frightened Blake to DEATH!!!

See... Blake is not happy. Blake is afraid of the shark. He thinks it will bite him...He is pretty smart! :) "It would hurt", he tells me.
It's ok Blakey Boy!

As we were petting our new favorite friends, one little ray took a sharp turn in the water and soaked Carly and splashed me! We laughed. It was funny! Carly did smell a little fishy the rest of the day :)
Good times at Sting Ray Bay! Can't wait to visit again ;)

We made it to our mail box! Isn't he such a handsome Mail Man???

Getting the mail in the bag was a bit of a challenge, but Blake eventually got it all.

Oh Relief!!!

Last week I had a POUNDING, THROBBING, ACHING headache that lasted for 2 straight days! Come on now! Give me a break! Nothing seemed to help. I was getting desperate. As I was laying in the dark squeezing my head, this phrase kept echoing over and over in my mind....watch this and see if it rings a bell...

I really HATE this annoying headache commercial but at this point I figured...what the heck! I might as well give it a try. Leonard picked some up for me at the pharmacy and I am happy to report it worked!!! It really gave my aching, throbbing headache relief.
I am a believer! It is a homeopathic remedy. It has some cooling ingredient in it that brings relief. I think it is menthol or something???
Head On...apply directly to the Forehead! it is that simple and that wonderful!
Thought I would pass on some goodness to my friends :)
sorry...if this most annoying commercial echos in your head for days.
But my oh my! RELIEF!!! I'll take it ;)

This is LOVE!!!

This week being Valentines week, the kids have class parties and card exchanges in their classes. Leonard, being the BEST Mr. Mom this week took the kiddos to Wally World to pick out treats and cards for their classmates. When they got home, it turned out that the Spongebob Valentines Cards that Blake picked out never made it into the cart and so he didn't have any. I mentioned to Leonard that we... the girls & I could get some paper from my scrap cabinet and make some quick ones for the Blakey boy's preschool party which was the next morning, Thursday.
Well, the time came and went and we never ended up making him cards. I thought to my self, oh well he is 3 and he won't care, he doesn't even read or is really old enough to get it. I went to bed and didn't think of it again.

Thursday Morning...Leonard is getting kids ready for school, I get up to see if I can help and when I come down stairs I see my Leonard sitting at the table making cards for Blake's class.
Oh My GOODNESS...my heart just melted!

For one thing, he remembered that Blake was having a party and he was brave enough to get paper from my cabinet and made these sweet heart cards for all the kids so Blake could join in the card exchange! I fell deeply in love with this man all over again. This sweet and simple gesture was so thoughtful and caring and reminded me why I love this man so much!

I LOVE YOU Leonard Zito!!!!!
When I told him to stay right there I NEED a picture of this, I think he thought I would tease him about his crooked hearts....NO WAY JOSE! THIS IS LOVE!!!!
True Love!!! Thank you for all you do for me and our family, big and small! They matter and they are appreciated! XOXOXOXOXOX

This is our happy Blakey Boy...freshly bathed and ready for Pre-School Valentine's Party with his Special handmade cards and treats to share!

As I had my camera in my hand this morning I took a couple other pictures of some other tokens of love. Flowers from a Friend. It has been fun to watch the lilly's bloom. all 4 are opened now and I get to admire God's Beauty....I LOVE FLOWERS. My mom & kiddos got me a bundle of LOVE balloons and they were placed on the table and I was happily surprised to see them when I got home from the hospital, and I also got love notes from my kids too...nothing better than that! Another friend gave me my only Valentines Day decor I have out this month. I love it! Thanks! I have been spoiled by other friends and family as well. I got a bucket of love filled with goodies, magazines, and stuff...should have taken a pic but didn't. Like I have mentioned before. I feel loved! My friends and family are wonderful. They put a smile on my face. I love all the goodies, cards, phone calls, blog comments, emails. They really mean so much to me! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

One more token of Love... My Lenny has made me Breakfast in bed almost everyday. Steel Cut Oatmeal is my new favorite! It's healthy, hearty, warm and delicious! It might not look the best in this pic. but trust me it is Yummy goodness!
I Sure Love You Leonard! You are my One and Only! My Valentine! XOXOXOX

~ A Leave of Absence ~

A 3 week absence from blogging??? WOW!!! You're all suspecting somethings up right? Well it's true! My life has been off the normal routine for a while. My mind, heart, body, soul & spirit have been through the wringer. I wasn't going to blog about IT but IT is a huge part of my life. So I want to share what I have learned and how I depend on the Lord in my life to help me through trials.

MOTHERHOOD!!!! That's huge! I have been blessed to bare 3 children of my own. Bringing human life into this world is NOT an easy feat! We, who have kids know that first hand and those struggling to have babies of their own also know these challenges.

Bringing babies into this world can do a number on a woman's body. Some bounce back while other's suffer. Since Blake was born almost 4 years ago, things DOWN THERE have never been the same. I have lived "kinda broken" for several years. Finally, in November 2009 while at the Dr.'s. I found out in order to heal my body major surgery would be needed to make repairs. The result of this surgery would mean that Leonard & I would never be able to have more children of our own again in this lifetime. Talk about a BOMB that dropped on me that November day. I took the news ok in the doctors office, but as soon as I left & let the word...HYSTERECTOMY...hit me. It hit me hard and I cried! " I'm too young!" I cried! "Why is my body broken???"

Before this news, Leonard & I had pretty much decided together we were done having children. We are very happy with our 3 great kids. But I was not positive we were done for sure. It is a HUGE decision. And now I am faced with this news! I needed some major help from my Heavenly Father to guide and direct my life! I needed Him. I needed His comforting arms more that ever! I needed to know what to do! It's a permanent decision - No changing your mind!
I ached inside to know what do to. It was all I could think about every single day. I began to pray, ponder & search for an answer. I talked to friends & family and women who I love and respect who have faced similar trials! I was learning a lot. But my heart was still troubled! I tried to distract my mind. But this decision hung heavy on me. As with many critical family crossroads we have come to in our 13 years of marriage, I have found that if we do all the we can to come to a decision and then ask the Lord if it is the correct one, He will let me know.

I have always tried to live my life in a way that would be pleasing to my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I would hold off surgery if He wanted me to have more children. The best thing I felt I needed to be was a healthy, happy mama so I can continue my work here on the earth full steam ahead. My body needed healing! In my search for an answer, I found peace and comfort through a priesthood blessing my father gave to me. It was very special & I know the Lord was speaking to me! I also found peace in my heart as I attended the temple.

I had my answer. And I cried over it! I didn't want to have guilt or regrets over this life changing surgery. My heart was at peace. I was still very scared and nervous but I know it is what I needed to do.

So last Thursday Feb. 4th, 2010 - I had a hysterectomy and other repairs to heal my broken body. The Dr. said everything went perfect during the procedure and my body was damaged more than he first realized! Wow, what a blessing to have the medical technology these days and the skilled doctors to cure a sick body. This past week has been a recovery week for me. It has been HARD and painful & challenging. But I know I am not alone! I am so blessed! The Lord is truly looking out for me and brings me peace! I feel relief & I am anxious to get back going 110%. It's gonna be 6-8 weeks before I am free to be the LOREE i want to be. It's gonna be a LOOONG wait for me. I am already itching to hop on my bike for a ride....but of course all that is going to have wait.

When is a good time to put your life on hold for a month or two & just heal??? I don't have time for that! But really, it's been amazing how all this craziness in my life has fallen into place. In Nov. I was released from my busy church calling in Stake YW. I had lots of time to think and concentrate on me and that's when i found out "the news". By the end of Dec I had a couple tests done and knew all my options & had time to focus on what to do & find an answer to my prayers.

My husband's work has been so supportive & were all on board to let him take this whole week to care for me and the kiddos. I've been directed to the couch or my bed to rest, relax, read and heal! NOTHING ELSE!!! He has been MR. MOM 100%! I have been entertained watching him do all my mama work. He has gotten the kids off to school, bathed, fed, picked up the house, made breakfast, lunch & dinner...except for the nights friends have so generously fed us...THANKS!... he's cleaned the kitchen and even swept the floor...i was impressed. He took out the garbage a day early instead of the panic dash when the garbage man is driving down our street. He picked up the house again & again, gathered dirty laundry, sorted it, washed it, folded it AND put it all away! Helped the kids with homework, ran them here and there, wrestled with Blake, picked up the house again ..."man these kids are messy", he tells me. He has dejunked the junk mail pile by the phone and went to a school science camp meeting for me. organized and cleaned his office, fixed stuff around the house. He took me out for a walk and has cared for me in all my needs. He has let me whine and cry if i need. me makes me laugh and it hurts to laugh. But i like to laugh so it is good. He did all this stuff in just one day and everyday it is the same work load. He was beat! I sure love him like crazy! He told me he thought stuff magically gets put away and cleaned and I told him, Yes I am MAGIC ;) I feel appreciated~
I especially loved the fact he jokes with his friends that he thought all i did was watch tv and eat chips all day! HA HA! NICE!!! I loved his bosses response when she said he would be having surgery soon to remove my boot from his backside :) hee hee! good one lyn! :)
It's all good though, of course he is just kidding and he gets to do this long list of "chores" again tomorrow and the next day and the next. I sure got lucky when i found this amazing man! SERIOUSLY! I love you Lenny! you are my world! I wish it was me vacuuming the house and Sweeping the floors :)

And I must say I have been quite spoiled and loved this past week. I have wonderful parents that cared for my kids all last weekend. Great friends who have helped me with the kids while i was at the hospital and has had blake over for play dates. My awesome friends have brought me dinner, phone calls, texts, letters, cards, visits, hugs, treats, goodies, flowers, balloons and sent their thoughts and prayers my way! Thank you all so much! I truly am one blessed lady! I feel loved and I feel happy!

Now I am going to have to learn patience....I am never good at that!!! But I am going to try. I have time to focus on my future. To Heal, to be happy, to look at all my blessings in my life, show the Lord my gratitude. Do my very best to be the best mother I can to my 3 beautiful children who the Lord has entrusted me to raise and to teach. I dedicate my life to serving them, teaching them & loving them more and more each day. I need to teach them kindness, love, hard work, and helping them to realize their divine potential. But I know I can't do this alone. I am going to need help from above. I need to become a master at patience... I'll even like to be B student in the art of patience....I will take it on step at a time. I will find Joy in my Journey! No more looking back - Only Forward!!!

I have Big Plans, Dreams and I look forward to health. I feel changed! I'm a new Mama! I have to be! I have hope and look forward to the future! I know I may have moments of sadness over this permanent change and that is ok. I will be praying for strength & living my life the best I can! There is so much to do and really not much time!

So there we have it.... my family is complete!
Leonard, Loree, Kaitlyn, Carly & Blake! Together Forever!
