L&L's Summer Getaway to the Carolinas

In the beginning of June, Leonard attended a 2 week training course for work in Raleigh, North Carolina. We arranged for me to meet him for a weekend to explore and PLAY! We had so much fun. I have never been to the east coast, so I was very excited to see something new. Despite my flight being delayed 3 hours, sitting on a broken HOT sweaty plane for 1 of those hours and me having to throw away 1/2 my toiletries at the airport cuz I had a few too many travel sized lotion, mouthwash and dangerous threatening shaving cream. I finally made it to NC to see my Honey. Right away I could feel the Sticky HOT air of the east, but very BEAUTIFUL! We grabbed at bite to eat, it's Friday Fish Fry with turnip greens at the Cracker Barrel. Pretty good, except the turnip greens...sorry, not a big fan. We headed off to the movies to see Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. We hurried not sure if we would get a seat in the theater. in mesa, you better get there early or you get front row seat. As we rushed into theater 10 we were shocked to see this... An EMPTY theater. Yahoo, we get the whole place to our self. HAPPY DAY! :) We could talk real loud the whole time, not turn off our cell phones, change seats as much as we want, in fact I think I will stand for the whole movie. I might run up and down the stairs just because I can. This is gonna be fun!
Don't we look Happy? Well our 25 minutes of CRAZY fun ended as 5 people showed up right when the opening credits began! RATS!!! Now we have to be quiet, turn off our cell phones, no monkey business and be a respectful normal movie watcher.
We still enjoyed the movie all 7 of us :)

The next day we drove 3.5 hours down to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We wanted to play in the ocean and say we swam in the Atlantic Ocean. The ocean was so warm, calm and shallow for ever, it was a weird experience. The baby waves made it hard to boogie board, but we still attempted for a couple hours, the fun all ended when we saw these funky looking jelly fish. Time to go and see what else is here in Myrtle Beach!
Man ALIVE, my Man is so Studly! I love you Lenny :)
Here I am on MYRTLE BEACH oh yeah!

All Spruced up and ready for a night on the town, but first check out our hotel room...
Room 105=1st floor, not bad hu? let me give you a better view...
I am at the front door to the lobby and the hot loud hallway, right by the elevators and....
the wet, slippery, echoing, ONLY hallway to the pools and Ocean. NICE HU!!! We tried to get the room changed since it really is the WORST room to have. But the entire hotel is booked. We survived and knew we would laugh about this crappy room one day. We really get the worst rooms, mostly cuz we are too cheap. anyway, moving on...
I love this pic of us. We make a great couple!
I am on our back patio of our lovely room, and can give all the swimmers hi-5's we are so close.
But it really is all good, we loved having an ocean view!

We went to the Palace Theater located at Broadway at the Beach. Myrtle Beach's tourist trap. We bought tickets to see Le Grande Cirque, a Cirque du Soleil show. It was awesome! it was a 2 hour show filled with mesmerizing acrobatics and people with major SKILLs. They asked us not to take pics and I was a good girl and didn't break the rules, but it was an incredible show.
It was a Grand Palace for sure!
My King Lenny!

Let's Eat! We tried out Joe's Crab Shack and LOVED it. The seafood was Fresh, really Fresh!
Leonard and his delicious grub, bib and all! the Shrimp was To Die For!YUMMY! it is all Fried food for me! I'm on vacation and it was delicious!

RIPLEY's BELIEVE IT OR NOT MUSEUM * Myrtle Beach, SC
Leonard & I love these Wacky museums, this is the 4th one we've visited. Can you believe a human being can get this Big! WOW !
You'd only find a Car Bumper Rhino Sculpture here.
This is one freaky optical illusion....
Leonard has no face, Yikes!!!
It's a small world, my Grandma Curtis is from St. David, AZ and knew Gladys McRae. It is an amazing Quilt she made out of all the Ribbons she won check it out.

More Weird stuff, this is a replica of some guys HUGE hand!
a Bizarre "Junk Mannequin"
Leonard is standing by a Jelly Bean Vincent Van Gogh replica & the Picture of Christ was created by minuscule writing of the words in the book of St. John in the Bible. Incredible. We could read the words.
Matchstick Roller coaster...These people have a lot of time on their hands, you think? This weirdo museum was fun!

There are a couple things we noticed about Myrtle Beach that we haven't seen anywhere else, they deck out their seafood buffet restaurants with Giant crabs, Pirate ships, very theme park like buildings, it is pretty cool. They also have more goofy golf places I have ever seen in my Entire Life! not joking. I bet we saw 20 in one stretch of road and with that they have discount beach ware shops where they sell, towels and beach stuff on every corner like Circle K's. I didn't get a picture but we laughed a lot!!!Okay so time for Lunch, should we go to the GIANT CRAB????
or how about Hard Rock Cafe? We chose Myrtle Beach's Hard Rock cafe.

It had an awesome Egyptian Theme going. We enjoyed some big fat burgers and a delicious vanilla shake! Leonard checks out rock memorabilia of one band he likes, Creed.

As we drove the many hours back to Raleigh, we saw this wheat field and i needed a few sprigs.
I hope you enjoyed this Getaway Recap with me and Leonard. Join us next time for our next adventure!
