Oh what do we do in the Summertime

SWIM of course! My kids are little fish. Kaitlyn and Carly were on Swim Team this summer. Kaitlyn's 3rd summer and Carly's 1st. They were so excited to be a Brimhall Hammerhead.

The girls had practice Mon-Thurs. starting at 7:25 am for K and 9am for C. Luckily, Leonard helped me by dropping the girls off most of the mornings and for a couple weeks had help from my friend Katie bringing them home. Otherwise the Zito taxi was at their service every day at 9:50am for pickup. Then every Thurs night starting between 4-5pm we had swim meets June through July. In fact tonight is the FINAL Championship Meet and Carly will be racing Backstroke. She placed 2nd in the qualifying and semi-champ meet. We are so proud of our Carly. She is also an alternate for Freestyle. Kaitlyn also did an excellent job this season of swimming. The older Kaitlyn gets, harder the competition gets. She is the best at Freestyle and Backstroke, and did much better learning the Butterfly and Breaststroke. It has been so neat to see her try so hard to improve her technique and time. For tonight's meet K will be an alternate backstroke swimmer. She missed competing tonight in backstroke by 1/10 of a second. Can you believe that?! She hopes one of the girls will not make it so she can race one final race this year. Kaitlyn earned many 1st & 2nd ribbons and we are so proud of her hard work. Some have heard me grumble about swim team only because it is so HOT outside, but when I see my girls beautiful, smiling, happy faces, it is worth the sacrifice...watching them grow, learning to be a good sport, and loving competition.

Carly gets 5th place at her first meet in Freestyle! Woo Hoo!

Kaitlyn's great form and speed earns her... First Place in Freestyle Relay! GO KAITLYN!!!

Well here are our Amazing Swimmers and their many ribbons, we are even missing a few. The girls just got home from the Final Championship meet. All the girls showed up for the race so Kaitlyn didn't get to swim as an alternate. Bummer! Carly got to swim Backstroke and she came in 1st PLACE in her age group. #1 in the City. So awesome hu!!! She even got a Medal!
Don't mess with the Toughest Zito Girls in the West!! K is Ripped!!!

Carly finishes her 1st swim season as #1 in the City in backstroke! Her time in the 25 yrd swim was 26.73 seconds. She shaved off 3 seconds from her last prelim time. We are so proud of both our Girls! They are AMAZING!!!
