It is 5 am on Friday June 12th and we are packed and ready for one BIG ADVENTURE!!! This is our first major road trip since Blake was born 3 years ago. We have flown to Montana to visit yearly but we are feeling brave and it is really the most cost efficient way to visit our Zito Family this summer. So on the road we go. We have a 17 hours ahead of us today. Our goal is to make it to Idaho Falls, ID to Grandma & Chet's Home. Let the Adventure begin :)
We are all smiles so far :) The sun is starting to wake up too.
For this Vacation we invested in a couple new and IMPORTANT pieces of technology.
1. We bought a GPS and we LOVED IT!!! if fact it came in really handy within the first 30 minutes of our trip. You see, each kid had their own DVD movie player for sanity's sake. Well, when we were starting them up, Blake's DVD player was not working. Can you say EMERGENCY?? So we asked our GPS to find the nearest Walmart and within minutes detoured and found one in downtown Phoenix and we bought a new one. WOW!!! it already paid for itself if you ask me. It would have been a nightmare without some entertainment for Blakey Boy! and Leonard was extra happy we bought a GPS cuz I won't be stressing him out when I think we missed a turn or are lost or can't find where we are the map. Me???? stress out??? NEVER! LoL
2. We replaced our old broken video camera. It is an AWESOME HD Digital Sony Video Camera. The video it takes is amazing. I hope to be posting lots of videos of our ULTIMATE ROAD TRIP 2009. So this trip did cost as much or more than flying, but at least we get to enjoy our GPS and Video Camera. Yahoo!!
Hey, enjoy these first 2 video's of our adventure :) but first scroll down to pause my music player.
In Tradition's Past one of our stopping points along the way is in Panguitch, Utah. We always have a picnic here at this fun park in town. It is a great place for the kids to play, stretch and get their wiggles out. I think the last time we stopped here it was pouring rain so we just waved and drove by. The kids were so happy the weather was agreeable to stop and eat and play.
Blake is enjoying his Bologna sandwich and applesauce. Another Zito Family Road Trip tradition is to pick up Hogi Yogi Sandwiches in town and play at this park, but because we bought a new video camera we are eating "bring your own picnic, Bologna & Cheese Sandwiches". It wasn't too bad and saved us some cash too :) plus...I like "Light" Bologna :)
Blake loved this park and he loved following around the other kids there too. Blake was cracking me up. There was a little boy just shorter than him but was at least 2 yrs or so and Blake kept saying to him, "come here baby, little baby follow me." It was a Hoot!
The kids getting some energy out! Play Play Play!!

Blake is showing me that he is 3. He does the "I love you" sign to show me his age. I love it. Nobody was happy about getting back in the car for many more hours, but we got to do it :) Our next stop was dinner in Sandy, UT. This city in Utah is beautiful. Huge mountain range towering over the city. This is when he starts to dream out loud to me and trying to sweet talk me into moving to Utah. It is Beautiful, NO DOUBT. But I am not sold yet. I like the desert in it's own way. I am happy and so is he. He is just a dreamer and that is OK with me ;)

FINALLY Here we are in Idaho Falls and it is 10:30pm! 15 hours of driving and 2 hours of rest stops. We are TIRED and ready for a good nights sleep! This will be the longest stretch sitting in the car for the whole 2 weeks. We are glad to have the worst part behind us :)
* Notice the MAX Speed section on the GPS, the upper right corner?! Leonard earned himself a $180 photo radar ticket for this speed record. hmmmmmm :(

Looks fun! (The park, not the long drive!) Good luck with the rest of the trip!
What a well documented trip! I love all the picutres and HD VIDEO--AWESOME!!! We were Kaitlyn's primary teacher for a while a couple years ago and it's fun to see those kids grow up. Thanks so much for the blog comment, that's crazy that Lillian is your cousin!
I can't believe you guys drove clear up here. It gives me nightmares just thinking about it, even with movies and video games! That is why our family trips were just 50 miles to Missoula and back!!!! I feel kind of bad that our kids won't have all the awesome memories of places they have been, but at least they lived to grow up.
