Off to the Funnee Farm & My Grandma Memory Quilt

After spending an enjoyable 6 days in Billings, Montana, it was time for me to make the 2 hour trek across the plains to Greybull, WY. Blake & I made it safely to the Funnee Farm A.K.A Granny & Pappy's home. Cousin's camp is over now and my girls are happy to have their mom back. I get to spend some one on one time with Laura Lee. (mom-in-law) She is one COOL and TALENTED Lady! Leonard is still on his fishing trip. I'll see him in 4 more days. Yahoo!

This is the Funnee Farm backyard. Laura Lee has a great green thumb and the grass is so green and pretty. I didn't get a shot at her GORGEOUS front yard though. The Cottonwood trees are HUGE and they were "snowing" cotton seeds in the breeze. If you aren't careful, you will breathe in cotton seeds. I thought it was pretty cool at first then the sticky cotton was just annoying...note to self....don't plant cottonwood trees ;)

One of the kid's last hurrah of Cousin's Camp. Swimming in the pool! The kids had the best time with Granny & Pappy at Cousin's Camp. The Pool was nice and cool and they loved splashing around.

Mowing the lawn has to be a fun chore when you get to ride around on one of these riding mowers.

Hey it looks like Granny has a helper. Who could it be?

It's the Blakey Boy! He loved helping Granny mow the grass. Granny told me that he had a death grip on the wheel and it was hard to turn with Blake's help. He wanted to turn the mower the opposite of where granny needed to go. :)

Kaitlyn & Lilly. Pappy's Dog!~ The kids loved Lilly. She is a crazy dog. She is obsessed with the sprinklers. She loves water and loves to chase the water from the sprinklers and loves to get in the pool with the kids too. She is pretty cute.

My Scruffy Mountain man has returned at last! He had a great time on his fishing trip and we are so happy he is back with us. Kaitlyn gets a scruffy, scratchy kiss and hug from dad. I am looking forward for him to shave his face though. I am not a fan of scruff. I like my man with a clean shave ;)

AHHH now that is better. Freshly shaved face! Looking good ;)
Leonard takes the kids on a 6 wheeler ride. Isn't this the coolest machine? It drives like a tank and it is really tough. We love to take it out for a spin when we come to visit.

The kids love to ride in the 6 wheeler. Leonard even taught Kaitlyn & I how to drive it. There is a lot of land we can cover in this bad boy. Off they go on an adventure. Going, going, gone!
( stay posted...I will be posting a video of this wild ride soon. Technical difficulties with you tube)

"HAPPY" & Blake
Blake loves his Pappy Zito! He started calling him Happy. I know Pappy keeps Blake really happy with CANDY!!! Pappy is the candy man and anytime the kids go visit Pappy, he hands out gobs of candy! He knows how to spoil the grand kids. We love our Pappy!

The girls playing Webkinz on Granny's PC. They love the new Webkinz Granny got for them and had fun playing games and earning Webkinz $ for their pets. Granny is really good at all the Webkinz games and she helps them by giving them great tips and buys fun things for their pets. Granny is the best!

Here is the girls Favorite Cat at the Funnee Farm. Kaitlyn has named her " "and Carly has named her" ". I just call her "allergy attacker". I have to stay clear of all the cats cuz my eyes will swell shut. Yes I am allergic and my girls are so sad about that. They would each want their own cat if I didn't have my ailment. I would probably let them too.

Men & their GUNS!!!
John bought Leonard this SKS Rifle. Leonard is sooo excited. They spent the afternoon taking it apart and lubing it up and stuff. It's a pretty great shot too! Thanks Dad!

Laura Lee helped me finish my Memory Quilt while I was here. I have been working on this project here and there for over a year. I had the top done and needed her expertise to help me finish it. We had to tie it and bind it. I think it turned out GREAT! Thanks so much mom for your help! I couldn't do it with out you! I LOVE IT!!!!

This is the story of the quilt. My Grandma Curtis (my mom's mom) passed away 3 years ago and my aunts and mom had an idea of a way we could remember our sweet grandma. Instead of tossing out her clothes & dresses. My aunts cut them up into quilt squares and divided them up amongst all their siblings. And then each sibling (my mom) had so many squares of fabric to divide amongst her kids if they wanted. We could make a wall hanging or quilt with these blocks and then have an heirloom piece that we can keep and enjoy memories of our grandma. I was so excited about this project. My Aunt Kay had a quilting day at her place over a year ago. We each brought a couple yards of our own fabric to add to our quilt tops. Everyone had lots of different ideas and they will all be so unique when they are done. I brought 3 shades of pink & red and a brown polka dot. My Grandma loved pink. I love it too! I remember many of these fabrics of my Grandma Curtis. I remember her wearing that dress to church and this blouse while making us cookies.

This quilt was so fun to make and it will be cherished for years to come. Every time I look at it, it reminds me of my sweet grandma. I love her so much and miss her too! Thanks again Laura Lee for your AWESOME assistance! I sure love you!

The Zito kiddos and their favorite Granny & Pappy! Thanks for feeding us, playing with us and visiting with us! We love coming to visit and wish we lived closer. What a great time we had together!

I love all these pics! they make me smile! I couldn't just pick one to display. I especially love the last bottom pic of Pappy's happy giggle! It is always sad to say goodbye! We enjoyed our time at the Funnee Farm but the time has come for us to head back to the desert. But on they way home we are looking forward to visit Temple Square in Salt Lake City and we have plans to hike at Zion's National Park. The Adventure of the Ultimate Road Trip Continues!

I love the quilt it turned out great! That is such a fun idea. I have a T-shirt quilt that my mom made me when I graduated that has all the T-shirts from sports, dance, etc. on it. It's a fun one as well and I love it! :)

It was so awesome to have you guys all here for a visit. I loved, loved, loved helping with your quilt, my favorite pass time. The kids are growing so fast, it just doesn't seem possible.

Your quilt turned out beautifully. I have a quilt and a homemade sleeping bag made out of clothes my G. Grandma wore. I cherish those items. I have been saving all the old dresses I have made for the girls over the years in hopes that when they graduate, I will have enough to make a quilt for each of them. I kept all the leftover fabric too. Glad you had a great trip.

One of my favorite childhood memories is riding on the tractor with my grandfather, helping him mow the lawn. Seeing Blake riding with his Granny brought back those precious memories. :)
